Evening Inpatient Services Unit Coordinator

Position Summary

The Unit Coordinator will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Kent Inpatient Services. The Unit Coordinator will be responsible for administration and reception functions for the facility. Duties which will include: close coordination with unit staff, patients and family members, other healthcare professionals and departments. The Unit Coordinator will also screen evening referral calls, for potential admission to Recovery Place Kent. This will also include documentation of the referral and verification of financial guarantor. The Intake Coordinator will utilize a harm-reduction approach when delivering services to inpatient residents and collaborate with program staff to support resident goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Acts as unit resource and provide customer service to patients, families, healthcare professionals and all staff

  • Facilitates communication between facility programs, outside agencies, and other Valley Cities outpatient clinics and programs
  • Cover reception desk, including greeting visitors to the facility, answering and transferring phone calls, coordinating visitation between visitors and clients
  • Maintaining supplies inventory and copying/filing, faxing, scanning as needed.
  • Maintains patient records and unit census records daily.
  • Pre-screens referrals for admission for eligibility and demographic information
  • Maintains EMR bed board and enters client information into individual client charts in EMR.
  • Coordinates admissions, transfers and discharges to with the Charge Nurse and appropriate departments.
  • Always ensures coverage of telephones and walkie talkies.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary care team members, including mental health and medical providers, as part of a comprehensive therapeutic environment, to assess and address patient issues throughout the work day.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

● High School Diploma/GED required

● Completion of a medical terminology course and/or a Health Unit Coordinator course preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

● Familiarity with issues related to homelessness, psychiatric conditions, and substance use, preferred.

● Ability to maintain good customer service in fast paced environment

● Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries

● Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision

● Good communication skills, teamwork, and attitude

● Multicultural awareness

● Ability to adapt; flexibility

● Available to work shifts on short notice

● Pass required background checks

● Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation with current insurance
